Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Through the Tuition Assistance Program, if you are a career employee, you can receive tuition reimbursement (or tuition advancement) for courses at an accredited college or university that will help increase effectiveness in your current position and for career development. You can leverage this program to secure a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree, or an equivalent level certificate.

Career Pathways Office
All LBNL Postdoctoral scholars, Graduate students, and early career scientists have access to a wide array of resources, workshops and programs offered by Berkeley Lab's Career Pathways Office.
UC Management Skills Assessment Program
The Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP) is an annual program designed to strengthen the engagement and preparation of high potential UC supervisors, managers, and professionals. It offers an intensive, off-site, assessment center experience for early career managers.
Eligibility details can be found here.
Currently the program fee is $1900, which covers the cost of lodging, meals, and program materials. The participant's division would need to cover program fee plus the participant's time and travel costs.
Mentoring@LBNL
Mentoring@LBNL is a new initiative driven by a cross-divisional and cross-functional group of passionate advocates for mentorship to pilot impactful lab-wide events and resources related to mentoring. This initiative is sponsored by the Career Pathways Office and the IDEA Office.

SAFE Program
SAFE @ Berkeley Lab is an interactive virtual and/or on site experience that puts leaders and managers into “real life” managerial scenarios and coaches them to understand how to build a strong culture of psychological and physical safety with their teams.
Stewardship Summit
The Stewardship Summit is an intensive leadership & management workshop to ignite the potential in who you are, how you lead, and the cultures you create. It is designed specifically for Berkeley Lab's diverse community of emerging and experienced managers and leaders. Currently the program is offered virtually and over the course of 3 days.
Gartner
All UC employees have access to digital professional development resources offered by Gartner's Learning & Development Leadership Council.
Gartner is a leading research and advisory company that provides insights, best practices, and tools to help individuals and organizations grow and achieve strategic priorities.
NOTE: This is a UC offered resource. You will need to create an account using your LBNL email to access Gartner
360° leadership assessments are diagnostic assessments and development tools. They are particularly suited for Managers & Supervisors at Berkeley Lab committed to their own professional development and are open to receiving candid feedback from a wide network of others (direct reports, peers, clients, others stakeholders, etc.).
LBNL's Learning & Culture Office has administered Zenger Folkman 360° assessments since 2019 but this program is currently on pause. This program will resume in mid-2024.
In the meantime, the Learning & Culture Office recommends the following 4 vendors who offer strong assessments & associated coaching; you may contract with them directly:
